Fire At "The 218"

On June 1st, we had a propane bottle explode on our BBQ, which resulted in a lot of damage on the deck and smoke contamination in the house; result,  the entire contents have to be wrapped, packed out, cleaned and stored until such time as the interior is cleaned and repainted.

WARNING BBQ fires are the most common of house fires especially on wood decks.  Clean your grill and check it frequently.  Locate it away from flammmable material, AND always have a fire extinguisher on hand .  I learned this lesson the hard way UGH.

October 2024;

We’re back home!  10 weeks of fun, the interior has been completely painted and restored.  We were lucky to have a good contractor.  Now on to unpacking contents.. Ugh.

More later.

November 2024

Looks like we’re complete just a few areas to arrange, but things are back to normal (yea)

Now on to the “hamshack” Looking forward to that.

Always Looking for fun

We are always looking for fun and entertaining things to do at the “218” and elsewhere. RVing to various remote off the grid sites, relying on ingenuity to keep things going. Ham Radio always. The various nets throughout the week seem to keep things at a norm. Revising  the “hamshack”  Coffee and DMR anybody? Reading? Lots of that. The latest book list below.  Oh and if that’s not enough, the past weeks have found us refining our roasting of coffee. 🙂 Nothing happens around here without coffee!!

Duff’s 3D printing, a real challenge with very interesting results. See the web-cam and projects posts elsewhere.

RC Flying for some sky-adventure or not! 🙂

I decided to create a website for the pure amusement of myself and of those who dare follow me.
Stand by for things to come!

Onward

The “218” Crew

Duff, Judy, Piper, Mitzi, Maya and TWEETS.

and Elsewhere

Summer 2023 found us celebrating “graduations”. High School and college amazing. Our little ones Liam and Alex growing up at an amazing pace.

Duff hit the octogenarian wall plus 2  Smack in the middle. What a target. 🙂

One hip replacement later I Still miss the “bikes” Spyder and BMW, and decided to explore the E-Bike world.

Travels to Explore

The Bill Chipman Palouse Trail

The Bill Chipman Palouse trail runs between Moscow, ID and Pullman, WA.  A 15 Mile out and back is a great fully paved  rail trail meandering  through the hills of the Palouse. Creeks, wildlife, scenery all to enjoy.  This was a great E-Bike ride taking just a few hours to enjoy.

SO, What's

An E-BIKE?

Essentially A Regular Bike, with an added electric motor drive. An E-Bike allows a rider to pedal Independently, or with varying levels of “pedal assist”. providing all the same great benefits as triditional bicycles. Yes aerobic exercise as well.

Judy and me have allways enjoyed riding, however with advancing age found ourselves missing the outdoors and riding together. Because of the way the motor is programmed, nothing but throttle, can move you along at a very leisurely pace or close to 20 MPH! I don’t suggest the higher speeds 🙂

The e-bike industry has exploded over the last year. What with energy prices over the top, the bike offers a great alternative. We found that the trip to the grocery store now is an enjoyable part of the trip.

Many different designs are available. From foldables to larger wagon types for all sorts of cargo hauling .We installed a biker carrier on the of the RV as a alternative to a Towed and it gives us not only transportation but a great way to explore some of those beautiful camp sites we enjoy.

There are plenty of forums covering every avenue of E-Bike LIfe. I believe you’ll find the E-Bike a wonderful way to travel as we have.
